Connections for Heroes began with the belief that we can make a meaningful difference for those who serve our communities.
Our story
Every day, U.S. veterans, active-duty service members, first responders, and their families make sacrifices for the greater good. CFH was created as a way to give back by offering support, hope, and practical solutions for the challenges they face.
When service members deploy, their families frequently confront significant challenges at home. After deployment or retirement, many personnel still contend with injuries, the demands of reintegration into everyday life, PTSD, and other lasting effects. First responders and their families often face comparable hardships. We too easily overlook that first responders regularly work in dangerous situations; the strain of that work affects not only them but their families as well.
Connections for Heroes was formed to “Serve those who serve”. We will stand beside those who serve in a meaningful way providing a range of services tailored to support their unique needs.

How we're set up
An Independent Nonprofit, Governed by a working board
Connections for Heroes has applied for 501(c)(3) tax exempt status.
Note: Our application is currently in the review process with the IRS, 9-09-26
We are not a government agency, not a VA program, and not funded or controlled by any of them, though we coordinate with VA programs, HUD-VASH, SSVF, and local fire and police departments.
Programs are delivered by staff and licensed contractors, supported by volunteers. The board approves the budget and the annual audit, and every director signs a conflict-of-interest disclosure each year.

Straight answers
Are you affiliated with the VA or any government agency?
No. Connections for Heroes is an independent nonprofit corporation. We coordinate closely with VA programs, HUD-VASH, SSVF, and local departments, but we are not funded or controlled by any of them.
Do you take a political position?
No. We serve veterans and first responders across every background and belief, and we don't endorse candidates, parties, or legislation. Housing a firefighter isn't a partisan act.
What percentage of my donation reaches programs?
Our first independent audit is underway, and we will publish the program ratio alongside the full statement of functional expenses rather than quote a figure we can't yet support. Both will appear on the financials and transparency page the day the audit is complete.
Where do you operate?
Staffed operations are in West Chester, Pennsylvania, with regional teams expanding. If you're outside a staffed region, apply anyway, we run projects through partner organizations regularly.
Who is eligible for your programs?
United States veterans of any era and any discharge characterization, active and retired first responders, and the families and caregivers who live with them. Eligibility turns on household need and home safety, not on rank or service dates. The programs page lists the criteria for each program.
